Mediums that's popular with drawings ...

Ink:

If you plan to add ink to your drawing it must be kept in mind that inks require a different tipe of paper, depending on the tool that's going to be used. If you are using a nib tipped pen or a ball point pen, you will need a smooth hard paper.  If you plan on using just a brush, a sized paper will work best.  Water color paper is good choice.  If you want to use both nib and brush a Hot Press Water Color paper will work well for both tools.

Water Colors:

Water colors are also one of the mediums that's used to give a drawing and a pen and ink a bit color.  But I will discuss water color under Painting - Water Color.

Charcoal:

Charcoal requires some paper with tooth.  Unlike pencils, charcoal has little (in the case of compressed charcoal) to no (vine charcoal) binder so it and will not stick as well to a smooth surface.  There is a huge array of charcoal/pastel papers to choose from. Finding the kind that you like will take some searching.
